I am a professional impressionist oil painter as well as a landscape painter who will work from your photographs to create that special something for you to cherish be it a favorite place, person or pet. I paint because I am drawn to it like a moth to the light. Painting is fundamental to my understanding and expressing life as I see it. Both nature and people stimulate me. I love the beauty of life; there isn’t enough time to put down everything that excites me. It could be an object, it could be the light, or the expression or fleeting impression of a moment caught in time.

When I create a piece of art, I first block in large basic shapes. Then I look for where I want movement within the piece, where I want my viewer to go. I try to keep that movement in mind as the painting progresses. Drawing the viewer in and keeping them involved in the scene is key; to “walk into the scene” and lead them to novel discoveries, both visual and personal; to give the viewer a chance to see a different perspective of something very commonplace.
