Denver, CO, May 7, 2010: Denver’s own Victoria Morris Ekelund will be exhibiting her latest work at the Bell Studio and Gallery in Central Denver for the month of May. Meet the Artist and experience her exciting new artwork at the opening during the First Friday Art Walk along the historic Old South Pearl Street, from 4 - 8 PM. Bell Studio and Gallery is located at 1573 South Pearl Street. Victoria will also be on hand Saturday, May 8 during regular gallery hours.
Victoria Ekelund, who has been living and working locally in the Denver community for over 30 years, has gained national recognition for her art. She currently has paintings being shown in the national juried Oil Painters of America show in Arizona, Nomadas del Artes in Dallas, as well as the prestigious traveling exhibit titled “Paint America Top 100” which is set to show around the United States in the coming year. Closer to home, she has been an active member in the Plein Air Artists of Colorado (PAAC), and recently won 2nd Place in the Emerging Artist category in the 2009 Denver Paint Out for Urban Serenity, which will be available for sale at Bell Studio and Gallery.
A well-traveled artist, Victoria has spent a lot of time overseas and in the States painting, but the blue skies of Colorado always call her back. “I recently realized that I am always off in search of new scenes to paint,” she says, “but I have so much to paint right here. It’s a beautiful state, and a challenge to capture on canvas. I just need to travel out my front door to find a wealth of subject matter.” Come see your favorite haunts re-imagined.
Bell Studio and Gallery has a number of fine local artists whose work will also be on display: including gallery owner, Susan Bell.
Bell Studio and Gallery hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
